The Advanced Law Business system was originally developed and marketed by Mountain Software in the early 2000s. Subsequently, Mountain Software was acquired by CS Group in 2007, which later went under the ownership of IRIS, leading to a rebranding of the product as Iris Law Business (ILB). In 2013, IRIS itself was acquired by Advanced Computer Software Group, resulting in yet another product name change to ALB. The Mountain/ILB/ALB system utilises a Microsoft SQL Server database to store its information.
